As the founder of Umio, Chris seeks to widen perspectives on health value and its sustained co-creation through complexity thinking and transdisciplinary systemic design methods.

Chris is the creator of the Umio Health Ecosystem Value Design® framework for driving health and care value and adaptation sustainably and at scale.

Health Ecosystem Value Design® evolved from Chris's near thirty years of experience advancing needs-first innovation, co-creation, systemic design and customer-centred strategy. In this time, he has advised companies in a variety of industries and sectors throughout the world. These include pharmaceutical, medtech, health IT, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, materials, chemicals, transport and communications technology companies, as well as government, research and care provider organisations

His broad experience of driving innovation through advanced front-end methods has given Chris a uniquely practical and powerful perspective on how organisations can build and adapt the capabilities needed to discover, create and sustain advanced forms of value. 

From 2006-2013, Chris was MD of Strategyn UK, delivering the outcome-driven innovation methodology throughout Europe. In this time, he grew the company to become the largest outside of the US. With his team, he interviewed thousands of clinicians, managers and patients around the world to capture unmet needs, reveal and evidence hundreds of growth opportunities, and drive innovation.

Chris has an MPhil from Cranfield School of Management, an MA in economic planning and a BA (hons) in Geography from Liverpool University. He became a visiting fellow at Cranfield in 2012, and has several publications in academic journals and chapters in books.

Chris is also a black/white street photographer when on long walks around the world's cities, loves jazz and is learning the trumpet. He lives near Oxford, UK.
