Wound care, clinical practice and microbiology adviser
Jerry is a wound care technology specialist with a broad range of experience and skills developed over 26 years in the medical devices industry with ConvaTec Limited, a large global medical devices company with business interests on wound therapeutics, ostomy care, ICU and infusion devices.
His most recent position with ConvaTec to July 2012 was Director, Human Physiology and Innovation, based in ConvaTec’s Global Development Centre in Deeside, N Wales, UK. Jerry’s principle knowledge base is the pathophysiology and microbiology of wounds and other conditions in ICU patients, and the innovation process. Jerry has experience and skills gained in senior management positions in innovation, product development, and project and strategic planning. He has experience in commercialisation, regulatory affairs and clinical affairs.
Prior to joining ConvaTec Limited, Jerry worked in the International Development Laboratories of ER Squibb and Sons, a global pharmaceutical company now part of Bristol Myers Squibb, and was a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Microbiology, at the University of Birmingham, UK.
Jerry’s undergraduate degree is in microbiology from the University of Leeds, UK. His PhD is in the medical mycology field, also from the University of Leeds. He a member of UK NHS National Institute for Health and Clinical Effectiveness (NICE) Medical Technologies Advisory Committee (MTAC), a member of the Welsh Wound Network Steering Committee and the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Wound Care.
