As the founder of Umio, Chris supports industry, provider, government and social organisations to rethink, redesign and realise systemic value in health and care.
He is the creator of Umio’s Health Ecosystem Value Design® framework and the author of the acclaimed book of the same name.
Health Ecosystem Value Design® evolved from Chris' thirty years of experience advancing innovation thinking, co-creation, system-level design and customer-focused strategy.
In this time, he has interviewed managers, clinicians and patients all around the world, discovered hundreds of opportunities and completed several successful engagements in diverse markets and settings.
In health and care, these include discovery and innovation programmes in obesity, chronic pain, diabetic foot, neurology, infection prevention and control, depression and anxiety, patient safety, personalised care, bowel management, elderly care, neonatal, incontinence, urology and wound and skin care ecosystems.
Chris has a demonstrable track-record of driving successful growth through innovation in Global 500 pharmaceutical, medical device, manufacturing, chemicals, IT/telecoms and consumer goods companies.
He has an MPhil from Cranfield School of Management, an MA in local economic development and a BA (hons) in Geography from Liverpool University. He became a visiting fellow at Cranfield in 2012 and has several publications in journals and chapters in books.
